Artist’s Statement
I believe good design, craftsmanship and wearability are the three pillars of a strong piece of jewellery. What would one be without the other?

My traditional training in a Swiss goldsmith studio, my European background and an open mind to new things are definitely reflected in my jewellery.

My openness to and my awareness of daily occurrences become my source of inspiration. Suddenly common things turn into pieces of jewellery. I love to create something with the minimum of elements. Forms from nature are reduced and transformed into abstract shapes.

In the end, it is the simplicity of a piece that fascinates me the most and that is what I strive to achieve.

Biography
Petra Luz started her career as a goldsmith 19 years ago in Switzerland, her native country. During her 4 year apprenticeship she learnt the different techniques about jewellery making and studied about gemstones, metals and design. After her training she worked in small studios to perfect her craftsmanship. One of the jobs led her to Canada. Falling in love with Montreal, she decided to stay and started doing more and more of her own designs. She is represented by Canadian fine jewellery galleries and participates on a regular basis in shows.
